Mayor of Capulhuac Accused of Abuse of Authority

Miriam "N", a worker at the municipal DIF of Capulhuac, State of Mexico, publicly reported having been physically and verbally assaulted inside the facilities of that institution by mayor Selene Hernández Herrera (PT) and relatives. In a video circulated on social media, the woman pointed out that the events occurred on May 2, 2025.

"This video is to announce that on May 2, 2025, inside the facilities of the municipal DIF of Capulhuac, where I work as a psychologist, I was physically, verbally, and sexually assaulted by Mrs. President Selene Hernández Herrera, in collusion with her daughter Andrea Sástiga Hernández and police officer Ana Lucía Ríos Cano," she stated.

The woman is seen with various injuries on her face, sitting, openly offering her testimony in a video message. In the same message, the complainant expressed her concern for her personal safety and that of her loved ones.

"I am disclosing this incident so that what was done to me does not go unpunished and so that the abuse of power exercised in her position, believing herself untouchable, is made known," she indicated. Finally, Miriam "N" held the mayor and her daughter responsible for anything that may happen to her and her family.

So far, neither mayor Selene Hernández Herrera nor the Capulhuac City Council has issued an official position on the allegations; the Attorney General's Office of Justice of the State of Mexico (FGJEM) has also not reported whether an investigation has been initiated in this regard.

However, this Monday, residents of Capulhuac and Ocoyoacac demonstrated in front of the municipal presidency to demand justice for the worker and to support her, as well as to call for the removal of the Petista Selene Hernández.

The local committee of Morena issued a statement expressing its rejection of any acts of violence, including physical, sexual, digital, and psychological. "The members of Morena Capulhuac express absolute rejection of any type of violence, repression, threat, harassment, abuse of authority, and any act that undermines the integrity and dignity of individuals," the party pointed out in a statement circulated on social media.

For its part, the Municipal Executive Committee of the Labor Party (PT) in Capulhuac strongly condemned the reported events against mayor Selene Hernández Herrera, noting that her conduct has not adhered to the values of said political institute. The PT requested an investigation into the acts reported by the psychologist of the municipal DIF to clear responsibilities and apply the corresponding sanctions.
